
Action Plan #3: Personalization
Goal: To implement the R.I. Board of Regents regulations governing high school reform regarding the school learning environment.
Specific Target: To increase student engagement with the learning process.
Expected Increments of Gain: Plans will be in place for the full implementation/refinement of an advisory structure and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).

1. Plan an advisory system for all students to focus on academic, civic and social goals. 1a. Utilize the Teacher Support Team (TST), mentoring, peer coaching and K-12 Comprehensive Guidance elements (academic, career and social/personal domains) as resources for teachers in their efforts to personalize instruction, increase student motivation and to find positive behavior strategies. 1b. Establish varied means of independent and alternative study for all students. 1c. Continue to increase communication to parents about student progress 1d. Plan teacher personalization strategies in order to ultimately create personalization plans for each student within an advisor/advisee setting in order to increase individualization within all domains mentioned above. |
1. Develop an allotment of time each day for an advisory period. 1a. The TST will meet on a monthly basis to support efforts to help students who are experiencing difficulties. 1b. Within the advisory period, students will be given plans/organizers in which to plan their time. 1c. Continue utilization of list serve, monthly newsletters, interim reports, academic progress reports, report cards, Connect-Ed and First Class communication to inform parents/guardians about student progress. 1d. provide a professional development activity through Joseph Martino. |
1. Generate feedback through faculty and student evaluations regarding success of advisory program. 1a. A report will be generated by the TST that will document students discussed and remedies developed 1b. Samples of plans/ organizers will be given to faculty to distribute to students. 1c. hard evidence of list serve messages, monthly newsletters, interim reports, academic progress reports, report cards, Connect-Ed messages and First Class messages will be compiled about student progress. 1d. teachers will return from their professional development opportunities and disseminate information to their departments within department meetings and across content areas at faculty meetings, common planning time opportunities and through critical friends groups. School administration will monitor the implementation of the strategies. |
